We’re delighted to be part of the Leicester Cathedral Revealed project, which successfully secured the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund for its round I bid in May 2017. hsd is providing Interpretative Design and Management services for the new exhibits.
The Revealed project will help to restore and reveal the Victorian and Arts and Crafts heritage, create a series of accessible and engaging spaces, better manage visitor flow and improve the overall visitor experience on the Cathedral site.
There will be a new Heritage Learning Centre built on the footprint of the 1930s Song School.
A vibrant orientation gallery and hospitality space will house contemporary graphics, digital projection, hands-on interactives and themed artefact and co-curated displays.
Visitors will be encouraged to explore the cathedral spaces and discover for themselves its many unique and significant features. Led by an audio guide, the compelling cathedral story spanning one and a half millennia will be revealed, with an emphasis on people stories past and present.
The project began in February 2016 with the appointment of Reverend Pete Hobson as Project Director and is currently in its development stage scheduled for completion by the end of 2018. If all is successful work could begin on site as early as the summer of 2019.
