Magna Carta

hsd worked with Salisbury Cathedral to produce a major new exhibition telling the story of Magna Carta. Completed to coincide with the UK-wide Magna Carta 800 celebrations in 2015, the exhibition was designed to complement an active programme of community and learning events at the Cathedral.

Sympathetic and graceful exhibit components were situated around the medieval Cloisters and within the stunning 13th-century Chapter House. Visitors can engage with tactile components, graphics, AV productions, IT interactives as well as viewing Salisbury’s own 1215 copy of this iconic English document.   The exhibition was designed to appeal particularly to local visitors, family audiences and young people.

Our work included a collaborative project with Red Balloon, Bournemouth University’s Media Production Agency, to develop a range of immersive and reflective AV programmes, curated in collaboration with local students.

hsd was able to design an impactful exhibition in Salisbury Cathedral’s magnificent Chapterhouse that respected and flattered the architectural setting, rather than competing with it. That’s a rare skill!
