Two new interns join
team hsd

We have welcomed two new faces at our Leicester HQ. Elie-Mai Tully-Brown and Mayuri Rajpara have joined our team to gain hands-on experience in 3D design.

Both have recently graduated from De Montfort University (DMU) with a BA in Interior Design and are assisting the hsd team, learning first-hand what it’s like to work in a design studio.

For her final project at DMU, Elie-May produced a concept for an exhibition about social media showing how it can affect us, physically, mentally and how it can impact self-image. Elie-Mai comments, “When the opportunity to intern for hsd came along, I knew that I had to apply because I missed the creative side of interior design, sketching ideas and having group discussions on how to bring ideas to life.

“At hsd I have immediately been able to work on a large-scale, live project, contributing to the design of digital streams/projections. My time here has been enjoyable so far, especially working alongside the other designers. It’s given me an insight on how the exhibition design industry works and how many times a design changes throughout the process to get the best design outcome.”

Mayuri’s final design project focused on mental health within the Asian community in Leicester, using design to create a space for community well-being. Mayuri comments, “I applied for an internship at hsd to gain further experience within the design world, plus I really enjoy working on museum spaces and gaining knowledge about history.

“So far the experience has been great, and I enjoy expressing my creativity and ideas to the team. I’m hoping to gain more confidence and a variety of skills from this internship which can help me start a career as a junior designer.”

Elie-May and Mayuri are with us for a few months and have been great supporting the design teams so far by creating visuals, modelling objects and designing case layouts. We look forward to seeing them further develop during their time here. Keep an eye out for a follow up post on how they’re getting on.
