Over recent months hsd has been working with The Long Shop Museum team on their Transformation project. Through close collaboration with the client, Project Manager, Trustees, Architect, and Audience Development / Activity Planner we have forged a series of exiting display design proposals that are soon to be presented to the HLF.
The Long Shop Museum design proposals will reveal the inspiring story of enterprise and endeavour in the small Suffolk town of Leiston and this remarkable factory. New displays will see the museum’s extensive collection redisplayed and reinterpreted in a cluster of Grade II listed buildings across the site.
Widening and increasing the museum’s audience is a key objective of the Long Shop Museum Transformation project, both to attract and engage more local residents, and to encourage more holiday-makers in the area to visit Leiston and the museum.
In recent years the museum has made considerable efforts to increase its appeal to a broad multi-generational family audience and our design proposals have purposely been built on the successful elements of this work, through the provision of hands-on elements, flexibility to facilitate a thriving events programme, and through the creative use of sound and filmic interventions to reveal personal stories.
