On Friday 16th June hsd was invited to De Montfort University’s annual Art & Design Degree Show. We were delighted to be asked back to present certificates and prizes to two design students.
We were once again very impressed by the work on display at the show and had a hard time picking the winners.
Dayna Reid, an undergraduate student studying for her BA in Interior Design, was awarded the hsd ‘Undergraduate Best Exhibition Design Award’.
Dayna’s final project stood out as it showed an engaging visitor experience as a narrative journey, unfolding the interpretation by the creation of clear zones whilst ensuring message continuity via visual links between galleries and strong graphic design.
The winning postgraduate student was Oliver Page, studying Cultural Events Management. He won the ‘Best overall performance and contribution on the Museum and Exhibition Design module’.
Oliver’s exhibition proposal entitled ‘Futurism’ focused on the celebration of Silent film, seeking to highlight the visual splendour developed in the silent film era, specifically expressing science fiction and fantasy genres. The proposed interpretive methods, techniques and collections were strong and would provide both an exciting and engaging visitor experience appropriate to the audience.
Both students have been invited to visit the hsd studio to meet and sit with directors, designers and take a tour of the hsd studio. Keep an eye on our news page to find out how Dayna and Oliver got on.
