hsd helps develop one of the UKs Carthusian Monasteries
hsd has been appointed as Interpretive Consultant on one of the UK’s most exciting current heritage schemes, developing Coventry’s Charterhouse, in the lead up to Coventry’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2021.
The Historic Coventry Trust, in partnership with Coventry City Council, and the wider project team are working to develop the Charterhouse, one of only two surviving Carthusian Monasteries in the UK. The Trust have been awarded a £4.7 million grant from HLF to commence the first stage of the new Heritage Park and plan to restores the buildings and bring them into use as part of a wider Heritage Park.
hsd are currently progressing interpretative proposals and costed scheme designs to support a Round 2 submission to HLF. Working in synergy with the architectural teams, our proposals, define the ethos for each exhibition space, propose appropriate media for specific target audience groups, demonstrate how the site can be used for ongoing events and activities.
Claire Reece, Interpretative Planner, states: ‘I’ve been really inspired by Charterhouse as a place of reflection, discovery and adaption over time. Our proposed themes and experiences will enable visitors to engage with these stories through unusual, inspiring and fun interpretative devices.’
